Common -X- Black Alley

I was fortunate enough to attain a press pass for the Common concert at The Fillmore in Silver Spring. This was my first time shooting a concert and I gotta say that it’s is pretty awesome to be just inches away from the stage.

As soon as I arrived, I was given my press pass and directions to what I could and not do while shooting. I was instructed that photo/video staff could only shoot during the first 3 songs of each act – this was kind of a buzz kill but it was definitely better than nothing. unfortunately, this definitely cut my coverage short because I could only get one angle of Common’s performance [you’ll notice on the video/photos].

Later we were told we could shoot through Black Alley’s whole performance so I was able to move about our photo hole and get much better angles and more shots.

I look forward to shooting at more concerts, it is definitely a great experience and a great chance to see artists up close.
